Introduction

Engineering Technology in Quality Engineering programme offered in Malaysian Institute of Industrial Technology (MITEC) focuses on the quality and practical skill from industrial practices perspective. Quality of the programme conducted by this institution is monitored from the set of assessment which comprises of formatives and summative assessment. The standard of the coursework is meeting the current industrial practices and standard.The programme will help students learn to plan, design, conduct, and analyze experiments efficiently and effectively. It will expose the students to applications of total quality concepts and tools to improve quality, reliability, design as well as to implement, and maintain an effective quality management system in a manufacturing or service organization. The student will learn fundamental test strategies designed to identify controllable factors and their effects on quality measures as well as the foundations of robust design and its application to design, manufacturing and customer service. Emphasis will be put on documentation development, team-based improvement strategies, and international quality standards.In conjunction with UniKL principle which is to promote the application of knowledge, this institute is equipped by high end laboratory and workshop such as Metrology Lab, Advance Metrology Lab, AutoCAD, Inspection Technology Lab which consist of Non Destructive Test (NDT) and Destructive Test (DT) Lab, Surface Structure Lab, and Industrial Engineering Workshop. These facilities are definitely will increase students skills and knowledge as well as will enhance students learning experience.

Program Educational Objectives

  • PEO 1: To produce graduates who are knowledgeable, competent and innovative, who will contribute towards the human capital in Quality Engineering Technology.

  • PEO 2: To produce graduates who are well trained in the professional skills to support their role in Quality Engineering field such as effective leadership, teamwork skills and interpersonal communication skills.

  • PEO 3: To produce graduates who are committed to the importance of lifelong learning and continuous improvement in the Quality Engineering field.

  • PEO 4: To produce Quality Engineering graduates who practice professionalism with ethics and social responsibility.

  • PEO 5: To produce graduates who are capable of embarking on business and technopreneurial activities in Quality Engineering and related field.

Program Learning Objectives

  • PLO 1 : Apply knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals and an engineering specialization to defined and applied quality engineering procedures, processes, systems or methodologies.

  • PLO 2 : Identify, formulate, research literature and solve broadly-defined quality engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using analytical tools appropriate to the discipline or area of specialisation.

  • PLO 3 : Design solutions for broadly defined engineering technology problems and contribute to the design of systems, components or processes to meet specified needs of quality engineering with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, cultural, societal and environmental considerations.

  • PLO 4 : Conduct investigations of broadly-defined problems; locate, search and select relevant data from codes, data bases and literature, design and conduct experiments to provide valid conclusions.

  • PLO 5 : Select and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering tools, including prediction and modelling, to broadly-defined quality engineering activities, with an understanding of the limitations.

  • PLO 6 : Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse technical teams.

  • PLO 7 : Communicate effectively on broadly-defined quality engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, by being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.

  • PLO 8 : Demonstrate understanding of the societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to quality engineering technology practice.

  • PLO 9 : Understand and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of quality engineering technology practice.

  • PLO 10 : Understand the impact of engineering solutions in a societal context and demonstrates knowledge of quality engineering and the need for sustainable development.

  • PLO 11 : Demonstrate an awareness and understanding of management, business practices and technopreneurial competencies.

  • PLO 12 : Recognize the need for, and have the ability to engage in independent and lifelong learning.

A Pass Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) or its equivalent, with at least Grade C (CGPA 2.0)

OR

A Pass in Diploma with a minimum CGPA of 2.0 in relevant fields from UniKL or from other recognized higher learning institutions

OR

Pass in UniKL Foundation in Science and Technology with a minimum CGPA of 2.0; OR Pass in Matriculation / Foundation with a minimum CGPA of 2.0

OR

Pass in International Baccalaureate (IB) with at least 24 point

In promoting professionalism among students, through the Quality Engineering programme and Certified Lean Six Sigma Trainer, the students will be able to gain the additional valued added certifications which are Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and Certificate of Innovative and Creative Control Circles (ICC) that recognize by Motorola University and Malaysian Productivity Corporation (MPC) respectively.

Through the programme structure, course contents, activities and the facilities provided, the students can accelerate their learning experience which is normally the experiences are developed from working experience. The knowledge, skills and experiences covered in this programme serve to pave the way for students to become valued engineers in industry and business.

Diploma/Bachelor of Industrial Logistics offered in MITEC, focuses on the students’ skill from logistics and transport services perspective. Quality of the programs conducted by this institution is monitored through how we conduct the course as well as coursework given to students that meet the current industrial logistics needs. Content and course execution of this program are mainly tailored to not only art students but also to science stream students who don’t have any basic and passion in logistics and transportation. By doing this, it will increase the students intake in MITEC without interfering other degree/diploma program in other University Kuala Lumpur branches. By having Diploma/Bachelor of Industrial Logistics, MITEC will be able to produce high quality and skillfull manpower that needs national development in Malaysia. Graduates from Diploma/Bachelor in Industrial Logistics will have good opportunity to join local, multinational and even international logistics company.

A pass in SPM/SPMV with at least five (5) credits in the following subjects:

Bahasa Melayu,

Mathematics,

One Science or Technical Subjects

and two other subjects;

and at least pass in English.

OR

Possess a Certificate from IKM/ILP recognized by the Senate or other certificates recognized by the Senate in relevant fields with a CGPA of 2.0 and above; and at least a pass in Bahasa Melayu at SPM level.
